The era of lithium battery is coming to an end, 12 minutes of full-charge, long-lasting graphene battery is coming!

Nowadays, other hardware of smart phones are developing at a rapid speed. The battery is still in the same place. At present, the mobile phone in the mobile phone market is only a big battery capacity. Recently, Samsung announced that it has completed the development of graphene batteries. After using the graphene battery, the charging capacity of the mobile phone is increased by 45%, and the mobile phone is fully charged in 12 minutes.

 

The perfect graphene battery has been made long ago, but it has always existed in the laboratory because of its high cost, graphene has the name of black gold, and its early cost even reached 2,000 yuan per gram. Research by researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA, shows that using graphene as the anode material for batteries will charge and discharge more than 10 times faster than lithium-ion batteries.



 

For batteries, the large capacity and fast charging are the two most important factors, and the graphene battery is perfect for both. Compared to conventional batteries, graphene batteries will have twice the capacity of ordinary batteries in the same volume. In terms of speed, the graphene battery is five times more than other lithium batteries, which is the origin of the 12-minute full charge.

 

At present, more than 200 institutions and more than 1,000 researchers in the world are engaged in graphene research and development. China has applied for more than 2,200 patents in graphene research and development, accounting for one-third of the world's total. In 2017, global graphene patent data shows that the top ranking is still China, followed by the United States, South Korea, and Japan.



 

As early as December 2016, Huawei's Central Research Institute Watt Lab announced the launch of the industry's first high-temperature long-life graphene-based lithium-ion battery at the 57th Japan Battery Conference. The experimental results show that the new high-temperature-resistant technology based on graphene can increase the upper limit of lithium-ion battery use temperature by 10 °C, and the service life is twice that of ordinary lithium-ion batteries.

 

Compared with lithium batteries, the safety of graphene batteries is greatly improved, not only the heat dissipation is better, but also the graphene batteries do not have problems such as heat generation, hot, fire and explosion due to temperature rise.
